Costa Rica Birds & Macro Photography add-on

Workshop add-on to photograph Resplendent Quetzals, King Vultures, and frogs and reptiles at prepared macro setups.

April 6-11, 2026

For participants in our Costa Rica Hummingbirds & More Photo Workshop (and others if space is available), we offer an upgraded extension for 2026:

  • 1 day at Savegre Hotel Mountain Reserve for Resplendent Quetzals and other birds
  • 2 days at the photo blinds of Laguna del Lagarto Eco-Lodge
  • 1 day at "Frog Heaven" Reserve for macro photography setups of captive tropical frogs and reptiles
  • 1 day at the blinds and oasis of "Cope's Place" for close photography of toucans, tanagers, kingfishers, lowland hummingbirds, and more

We begin the the deep Savegre River Valley at a well-appointed mountain lodge with numerous bird species gracing the grounds, including the magnificent Resplendent Quetzal.

We then head to the Caribbean lowlands and Laguna del Lagarto, designed for bird photographers with toucans, tanagers, King Vultures, and unusual hermit hummingbirds among the specialties.

Next, we turn our attention to macro photography of many of Costa Rica's colorful tropical frogs and snakes. The owner of "Frog Heaven" reserve has created a private refuge where we can photograph these amphibians and reptiles at special setups.

Our last day of photography is at "Cope's Place" where everything has been arranged for wildlife photography and viewing.

Combine this extension with our Costa Rica Hummingbird Photography Workshop trip and receive a $1,000 discount.
