In the Northern Hemisphere, Comet C/2011 L4 PANSTARRS was only visible for a short time in the west near sunset before it sank below the horizon. The comet was discovered in 2011. Here it's about to set along with the cresecent moon behind the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains.
The glow at bottom right is light pollution from the small Mojave Desert community of Ridgecrest, CA.
