Blue-crowned Motmot, Costa Rica

Motmots (named after their calls) are large birds with distinctive long tails terminating in "rackets." While perched scanning for food, they rhythmically wag their tails back and forth in a tick-tock motion. This individual was frequenting the grounds of our hotel near the airport.
