Antpittas are curious long-legged birds that rarely venture from the thick understory of the forest. But some Ecuadorians discovered that the birds could be induced into the open by worms dug up from the soil (lower left).

Still, this bird preferred to stay near the dark thicket, forcing me to use a shutter speed of only 1/80 sec at ISO 3200 with a 500mm lens.
