I am forever fascinated by the dramatic peaks of the rugged Sierra Nevada east face, which suddenly rises 10,000 feet (two vertical miles) from the floor of the Owens Valley. The central "fang" is Mount Whitney, at 14,505 feet the highest mountain in the US outside Alaska.
The Sierra is dusted in snow in this January shot, which I converted to monochrome in Adobe Lightroom CC.
