Rockhopper Penguin colonies have been described as sounding like a thousand rusty wheelbarrows all squeaking at once. You can certainly hear the sound from a great distance.
This family is getting reacquainted after a parent has returned from the sea. The shallow depth of field of a 500 mm lens isolates them from the background.
