Vermillion Flycatcher, Ecuador

This Vermillion Flycatcher was a frequent visitor to the expansive gardens of our hotel in the highlands surrounding Quito. We simply had to wait patiently for him to return to a favored perch.

I was able to capture this sharp portrait handheld with the EOS R5 and 100-500mm L zoom at its maximum focal length. The intense vermillion plumage is easily oversaturated if you don't take care in post-processing.
