Coronets always raise their wings for a brief second after landing, exposing their chustnut-colored underwing coverts.
Seeing that this individual with particularly nice plumage was frequently landing on this flower, I pointed my 500mm lens and waited, finger poised on the shutter. Fill flash helps bring out the colors.
The real challenge is to ignore all the other action while waiting for this bird to land.
